Paleo f(x) Review and Exciting News from the CaveGirl!

image

We are finally settled back in after a very exciting trip to Austin for Paleo f(x). Now that we are back home, we wanted to share some highlights of our trip!

The week leading up to Paleo f(x) had the Primal Life Organics team in overdrive. Despite the fact that we were making large batches of our products to take with us on the trip, designing our display, packing everything, and still making sure all of our orders were made fresh and shipped out, we somehow managed to create three new hair products!

We were very excited to take these new products to Paleo f(x), where we gave them to a few Paleo celebrities! So far, we have gotten good feedback and can’t wait to get these new hair products (100% Paleo of course!) to your doors too! Keep an eye out for the official release of our Primal Sea Salt Spray, Hair Spray, and Hair Serum within the next couple of weeks.

Okay, okay! I know, you want to hear all of the good stuff like who we met, what we loved, and what we learned.

On Thursday Night- I kicked off the event by attending the Pecha Kucha soiree that featured some tasty (and 100% Paleo) Hors d’oerves from Caveman Cafeteria.  Favorites were the Rock Shrimp Ceviche Coconut-Lime Marinade, Candied Bacon House Made with Organic Honey and Stuffed Artichoke Hearts Bruschetta!  Drinks for the evening were from Live Soda Kombucha and my new favorite brew, O mission- gluten free and totally worth it!  The Pale Ale is this Cave Girl’s favorite!  I’m definitely going to enjoy a few of these this summer!!

I was lucky enough to sit next to Elizabeth and Cameron, with EPIC Bars- do not hesitate to try the new Lamb bars!  I thought the Bison and Turkey were great- the Lamb is even better!  I also got to meet Amy Kubal, a Registered “Paleo” Dietitian and the ring leader of Robb Wolfe’s RD consulting team.  Amy has an amazing story to tell about her relationship with food, which you can read here.  It was a “don’t miss” event that I recommend if you get the opportunity to attend Paleo f(x) next year.

The PLO booth kept us very busy, but we were lucky to have some friends stop by and say hello. Now it’s time for what we loved! There were so many amazing vendors there. Not only were the actual vendors great, but their products were also equally great. We were right across from Vital Proteins. You seriously have to check their pasture-raised bovine collagen & gelatin out, I’ve been adding it to my water for a week now and I love it!

The best part was that the majority of the vendors were food related. We gorged ourselves and everything was delicious but we’d like to share our top three. Kosmic Kombucha, this delicious drink is only available in Texas for now, but we can’t wait to have their unique flavors in our city. If you happen to be in Austin, be sure to pick up a few bottles next time you are at Wholefoods. Epic Bar, their grass-fed protein bars were so tasty and they even had a new flavor: Lamb! We couldn’t get enough of these bars. Now that I’m stocked up on them, I’ve enjoyed them in omelets, as an afternoon snack and my kids love them too! We met David from Paleo on the Go, these prepared-for-you meals are Paleo, delivered to your door and can be stored frozen until needed.

The event was a huge success for Primal Life Organics.  We were able to come face-to-face with many Primal Lifers and heard first hand how much PLO is LOVED- always so great to hear!!  We also reached hundreds that did not know we existed.  We made new friends, and new customers!  We met so many web-lebrities that support and love Primal Life Organics: Mark Sisson (just love him more in person!), Sarah Ballantyne (the Paleo Mom), Liz Wolfe (the Skintervention Guide, RealFoodLiz), Cain and Tammy Credicott (Paleo Magazine), Hayley and Bill (Primal Palate), Stacy and Matt (Paleo Parents), Arsey Vartanian (Rubies and Radishes),  Tonja and Clare (Flame to Fork) and Summer and Sara (Whole9 Canada- check them out if you have any problems with acne or breakouts!) and so many more!!  We learned that Primal Colors Makeup is a HUGE hit and many women fell in love with our philosophy, ingredients and colors as we performed demonstration after demonstration.  It was such an emotionally moving event and I am so impressed with how incredibly powerful this movement is!

We came away from this event with one thing we are certain of: The Paleo lifestyle truly does contribute to a happy, healthy and fulfilled life. All of the people we met were proof that this is not just a diet fad.

Once again, a big shout out to all of you that stopped by our booth to check out our products and share your stories with us, this honestly was the very best part of the whole event. All of the planning and hard work was worth the experience and really seeing in person how our products have impacted your lives. You all are awesome and we appreciate you.

New Ingredients You’ll Love

What’s the best thing about new Primal products?! All new, better for you ingredients to love! We’ve packed our newest skincare products with exciting skin foods like fruit extracts, Vitamin C, caffeine and garlic!

Wait? PLO has new stuff?! See what you’ve missed this month. Keep on the lookout, we’re always coming up with

Diversifying our Diets In this day and age, it’s incredibly difficult to find wholesome skincare products you can trust. PLO ingredients are so closely recognizable to the foods we eat and clays we see in our gardens, we’re tempted to eat them!

Fruit Extracts and Vitamin C. A double team of two, new exfoliating facial scrubs and skin polishers will keep your skin looking polished, all night long. Dirty Ex @ Midnight and Dirty Ex Sweet Revenge boast antioxidant protection from natural Vitamin C that helps firm the skin and improve collagen. A fruit blend to rival your breakfast smoothie, (extracts of mango, grapefruit, papaya in @ Midnight and pineapple, apple and guava in Sweet Revenge) will fight breakouts, dry skin, premature aging, inflammation, cellulite and skin discoloration — basically, all you need to make that Ex wonder why he ever left you alone on the dance floor.

Caffeine. No, this probably won’t cure your headaches when you’re cutting back on coffee — BUT caffeine crystals in Dirty Ex @ Midnight and Dirty Ex Sweet Revenge will calm puffiness in your skin and temper those fine lines and wrinkles.

Garlic? We know what you’re thinking, “I can get enough garlic just walking in and out of an Italian restaurant!” As healthy as garlic is for you to eat, it has incredible properties that are also great for your skin. The active properties within garlic make it a wonderfully natural antifungal and antibacterial. Vitamins A and B, organic iodine and sulfur, among others, mix with essential oils in Funki, Primal Life Organics’ Primal Foot Repair to help anyone struggling with post-WOD athlete’s foot.

Good Health Begins in the Mouth

And bad health begins there, too! Almost everything we put in our bodies, for better or worse, has an effect. And it all starts in your mouth!

We all work hard to maintain our overall health – we go to the gym, eat well, listen to our doctors and take steps to manage our stress (or try!).  But have you ever thought that a little extra effort to maintain your oral health could affect your overall health? Probably not; but the connection between oral health and overall health is surprisingly strong.

Bacteria: Where it all begins. Bacteria in our mouths can cause infections, which can lead to inflammation and cause our gum tissue to break down. Over time, this can become a chronic problem and lead to gum diseases like gingivitis or periodontal disease.

Then it gets really sticky. Poor oral health has been linked to diabetes and heart disease, strokes, among other serious problems (check out the Mayo Clinic’s list). Why? Because when your gums break down, are infected or inflamed, your body responds (in come the white blood cells). This can trigger arterial inflammation or blockages (heart attack) or arterial plaque, which research has tied to strokes.

On the whole. Take a holistic approach to your health by starting where it all begins – your mouth. Primal Life Organics Dirty Mouth Boost Primal Gum Serum can help replenish the natural oils in your mouth – not just for your teeth, but for the health of your gums and mucous membranes, too.  The 11 essential oils that make up Dirty Mouth Boost help reduce the culprits (bacteria) in the mouth that lead to chronic inflammation, fungal and viral infections (cold sores), gingivitis and denture stomatitis (inflammation of the mouth).

Anti-what? Antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, antiviral, antiseptic and anti-infection are just a few of the plusses of the oils found in Dirty Mouth Boost. Organic tea tree oil mixes with a stimulating blend of lemon, peppermint, clove, lavender and cinnamon with the anti-inflammatory properties of eucalyptus ad myrrh. Organic cypress serves as an astringent, antiseptic and a homeostatic to stop bleeding gums.

Seriously, what more can you ask for? Primal Life Organics offers Paleo, organic, and natural solutions for your overall health, all made from ingredients you can trust. If you haven’t heard from Kimberly, read her Dirty Mouth testimony here.

Not Just Skin Food: Eat your way to Healthy Teeth and Gums

If you haven’t busted out your Dirty Mouth Toothpowder yet this morning, you’ll definitely want to after reading this!

The American Dental Association lists their Top 9 Foods that Damage Your Teeth that berates chewing on ice, eating excessive citrus, dried fruits or sticky foods (like trail mixes) that can stick to your teeth.

And that doesn’t include beverages. Coffee can both dry out your mouth and stain your teeth. Alcohol can cause dehydration and dry mouth, as well as a reduction in saliva over time.

Now… we all know that scare tactics can only go so far. So what healthy habits can improve your teeth?

Re-Mineralize. Acids in the foods we eat can remove the minerals in our enamel and lead to tooth decay. Remineralizing is when minerals are deposited back into tooth enamel. So, remineralizing’s the goal!

Get some calcium and phosphorous. Perfectly Paleo foods like chicken, leafy greens, and nuts can boost your calcium intake and protect teeth, as well as phosphorous-rich eggs and fish. Raw, grass-fed dairy (milk and cheese if they are in your diet) can neutralize acids in your mouth – an additional bonus. Make eating whole, unrefined foods a habit for your health and your teeth. Crisp apples and pears can sometime “scrape” disrupt plaque on your teeth. These types of fruit also have high levels of water, not just sugar.

Add Vitamin A. Fermented Cod Liver Oil is another at-home remedy for tooth decay. The Paleo Mama shares some great research on her post on cavities and tooth decay that suggests diets lacking in fat-soluble vitamins are the culprit of decay. She offers recommendations like eating high vitamin butter oil daily, using ghee and grass-fed butter in cooking, eating liver regularly, among others.

Mix with Water. If you can’t get to some Dirty Mouth Toothpowder soon after coffee, alcohol or the dried figs you just ate, rinse with water. Try to avoid sipping coffee or snacking all day, as you’ll just be continuously exposing your teeth to risky sugars and stains.

Banish Bacteria. Not many of us think about the level of acid in our mouths each day, but bacteria in our mouth and saliva cause tooth decay. Primal Life Organics toothpowder is naturally minty and made from a blend of clay that is rich in minerals to neutralize acids and remineralize your teeth – like silica, iron, magnesium, calcium, phosphorous and more. Learn more about pH and the active ingredients in Dirty Mouth Toothpowder.

Ready to refresh your resolution?

Let’s face it. Literally. New Year’s Resolutions are hard to keep. Suddenly, it’s Valentine’s Day and you’re snowed in, cooped up and ready to let the next trip to the gym slide while you enjoy sweets from your sweetheart (or sweethearts if you’re cabin fever includes little ones!). Almost all resolutions are hard to keep – so for the rest of this year, resolve to have a resolution you can handle, and truly reap the benefits from.

Re-think your resolutions and vow to have chemical free skin, teeth and body with Primal Life Organics. Why hold yourself to a healthy, sometimes grain or gluten-free regimen if you’re going to ignore the largest organ in your body – your skin. If you’ve looked at the labels of your conventional skin products lately and were unable to recognize the words on the ingredient lists, doesn’t it make sense to think twice?  So many of us strive to eat clean, organic, grass-fed food-we-can-pronounce; we should be able to do the same for our skin.

Primal Life Organics products have a shelf life of up to 12 months, but it won’t take that long for you to see results in how your skin looks and feels.PLO has solutions for aging, acne ridden, dry, oily, scarred or discolored skin. Each PLO product is paleo skin-food, made from ingredients you can recognize, and is truly an organic, paleo, vegan and gluten-free product line that you can feel good about using. There are 10 more months in 2014, so make them count.

If you’re not convinced, take a gander at our recent video testimonials to hear what other cave girls and cave boys have said about PLO.
