How To Get Rid Of Wrinkles…Naturally

How To Get Rid Of Wrinkles…Naturally

This article was updated on January 26, 2024

In a world where botox, facelifts, and Instagram filters exist, our obsession with retaining our youthful skin has reached new levels.

After all, no one wants to look older and have a face full of wrinkles. But aging is inevitable and while we’re all for embracing ourselves no matter what our age, you don’t have to give in to not looking and feeling the best you can.

WHAT CAUSES WRINKLES?

As you age, your skin produces less proteins, collagen, and elastin. This makes your skin thinner and less resistant to damage. To make matters worse environmental factors, dehydration, and toxins can all make your face more likely to develop wrinkles.

Signs of aging include fine lines, prominent wrinkles, laugh lines, crow’s feet, a furrowed brow, red spots, discolorations, dry, dull-looking skin, loss of the “bounce” factor, and droopy skin.

In order to slow down the appearance of wrinkles, first you must understand the root causes of aging skin.

The Root Causes Of Aging Skin

DEHYDRATED SKIN: One of the primary causes of aging skin is dehydrated skin. In addition to external elements (weather and seasonal changes), unhealthy diet (lack of fresh produce), and lifestyle choices (alcohol or caffeine consumption), water-based skincare worsens the issue.

Water sucks the moisture out of your skin. To add insult to injury, chemicals and lab-made ingredients in commercial skincare products dehydrate skin even more, leaving your face looking wrinkled and lifeless.

MUSCLE LOSS: As we age, our facial muscles atrophy and cause “droopy” or “saggy” skin on our face. Skincare products do not work on muscle tone and are ineffective when it comes to this cause of aging.

DECREASED BLOOD FLOW: As we age, blood flow naturally declines, and toxic build-up accumulates in the skin, therefore, making it appear lifeless, sallow, and discolored. It also reduces the number of nutrients that are delivered to the skin structures.

DECREASED COLLAGEN PRODUCTION: We don’t produce as much collagen in our skin as we age. When collagen levels are high, the skin is soft, smooth, and firm. Collagen helps the skin cells renew and repair themselves. Collagen also helps keep the skin moist. Loss of collagen production is natural and cannot be cured with skincare products.

DECREASED ELASTIN PRODUCTION: Our skin also produces less elastin as we get older. Loss of elastin prevents your skin from “bouncing back” to its original shape (think droopy and thin skin). Again, skincare products do not cure this cause of aging.

Now that you understand what causes premature aging, let’s discuss how to prevent it.

THE FIVE PILLARS OF HEALTHY SKIN

There are five pillars of healthy skin. These pillars keep your skin naturally, hydrated, younger looking, and fuller. These are the structural components of your skin. When one or more of these pillars begin to fall (or fail), then signs of aging become more prominent. The five pillars are:

BLOOD FLOW: Ensures oxygen, nutrient delivery, and removal of wastes. Keeps your skin healthy and young.

HYDRATION (internal moisture): Essential for regenerating and hydrating skin cells while maintaining “firmness” and structure in skin tissue...

MUSCLE TONE: 42 Facial muscles keep your cheekbones prominent, eyebrows lifted, and your face alive. Without daily exercises, the muscles atrophy, and facial tissues “droop”.

COLLAGEN: Keeps skin soft, firm, and smooth.

ELASTIN: Gives skin its “bounce-back” and youthful firmness.

Seventy-five percent of your skin is composed of water and collagen. It is exposed daily to the harsh sun UVA and UVB radiation which results in age spots, fine lines, and wrinkles.

As you age, your skin produces less and less collagen, which leads to the formation of fine lines, wrinkles, discoloration, and age spots. Most anti-aging products use artificial ingredients, un-purified water, and fragments of hydrolyzed collagen-containing molecules that are too large for the skin to absorb.

HOW TO SLOW THE SIGNS OF AGING

Nobody wants wrinkles, and the commercial skincare industry knows it. With claims to make your skin smooth and wrinkle-free using their chemical-filled products, you can spend a small fortune on trying to stop the inevitable aging process.

Additionally, because commercial skincare products contain harmful chemicals such as alcohol, glycerin, sodium lauryl sulfate, SLES, formaldehyde, and fragrances, instead of making you look younger, these products cause premature aging. Not to mention they don’t address the 5 pillars of healthy skin!

So what do you do if you want younger-looking skin and want to avoid invasive treatments like botox, facelifts, lasers and fillers?

Here are 5 things you can do to reduce wrinkles and slow the signs of aging:

1. WEAR SUNSCREEN

A 2013 study in the Annals of Internal Medicine found that sunscreen helps to delay the signs of aging.

With that said, according to the EWG (Environmental Working Group) commercial sunscreen ingredients generate free radicals that damage DNA and skin cells, accelerating skin aging and causing skin cancer.

Additionally, sunshine serves a critical function in the body that sunscreen appears to inhibit - production of vitamin D. The main source of vitamin D in the body is sunshine, and the compound is enormously important to health - it strengthens bones and the immune system, reduces the risk of various cancers (including breast, colon, kidney, and ovarian cancers) and regulates at least 1,000 different genes governing virtually every tissue in the body).

Our solution? At Primal Life Organics, our sunscreen and Lickity Split Face Serum are made with our signature ingredient red raspberry seed oil, which offers extremely respectable protection from the sun’s harmful radiations without any of the very harmful ingredients found in commercial sunscreens.

We also added Non-Nano Zinc Oxide, which is non-irritating to your skin and is used as an effective broad-spectrum sunblock. The particles sit on the outermost layer of your skin, scattering and absorbing sun rays, protecting your outer surface.

Our formula absorbs quickly, doesn’t feel greasy, won’t sting, and feels light and breezy on your skin. This way you can protect your skin while still enjoying the beneficial rays of sunshine.

2. VIBRATE WRINKLES AWAY

As we previously addressed, in order to prevent and reduce wrinkles, you must stimulate collagen and elastin production in your skin, and tone your facial muscles.

This can be accomplished with a vibrating face tool. Vibration increases the production of collagen and elastin to strengthen your skin, resulting in an improved appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Additionally, a vibrating facial tool allows products to penetrate more deeply. This means whatever you will put before massaging your face will get absorbed by the skin in a more effective way, allowing for deeper hydration.

Our Non-Surgical Facelift Kit uses ultrasonic vibrations from our Facial Sculptor to naturally stimulate collagen and elastin production in your skin. It has the power to deeply cleanse, exfoliate, and improve the penetration of our concentrated facial serums. Our facial cleansers and serums contain natural plant oils and extracts which quickly penetrate the skin's surface to rebuild, regenerate, and rejuvenate the skin.

3. USE PLANT-BASED PRODUCTS ON YOUR SKIN

Unlike commercial skincare products laden with toxic chemicals that promote aging, plant-based, botanical skincare products support the health, texture, and integrity of your skin.

Botanicals have antioxidant benefits as many of the plants they come from were able to thrive in direct sunlight being exposed to UV light. This means they are able to protect against free radicals. Botanical extracts are beneficial for skin conditions such as acne, oily skin, hyperpigmentation, and wrinkles.

For example, Pomegranate oil is known to be extremely moisturizing and nourishing. Pomegranate oil contains powerful antioxidants that work to neutralize free radicals that otherwise cause skin damage and visible signs of aging. It is known to promote the synthesis of new collagen, enhance skin elasticity, reduce the appearance of scarring, promote the reversal of skin damage, and leave lasting moisture without leaving a greasy residue or clogging pores.

And because botanicals are highly concentrated, only a small percentage is actually needed to see maximum benefits.

4. USE AN OIL BASED SKIN CLEANSER

While a cleanser can’t exactly cause new wrinkles to develop, it CAN make existing lines that may not have been so noticeable more pronounced.

Here's the truth - skincare that lacks the right ingredients will end up drying your skin out, causing fine lines, and wrinkles to be accentuated.

Most cleansers contain ingredients like harsh surfactants (cleansing and foaming agents) that can strip your skin of natural oils and weaken the moisture barrier. While that squeaky clean feeling may make you think your skin is clean, your skin shouldn’t be tight and devoid of moisture after cleansing.

In addition, if your skin is dull, super dry, or super oily, it's a sign you are using products that aren't good for your skin, starting with your cleanser.

Instead, choose an oil-based cleanser like the Primal Life Earth Cleanser that will keep your skin balanced, hydrated, and less prone to wrinkles.

At Primal Life, we combine earthen clay + oils for a lathering cleanser that does double duty while protecting your acid mantle - the protective barrier on your skin that keeps your skin healthy. The saponified oils of coconut, olive, and jojoba break down makeup, oil, and dirt while the clay deep cleans the skin to get rid of pore-embedded makeup, dirt, grime, and dead skin cells.

Your skin is left dewy, younger-looking, and glowing.

5. SLEEP

There are few things that are as regenerative as sleep.

Getting 7-8 hours of shut eye every night helps your skin and body repair. Your skin makes new collagen when you sleep, which prevents sagging and promotes plumper, healthier skin.

Additionally, sleeping helps your body boost blood flow to your skin, which means you wake to a healthy glow. Skimp on sleep and your complexion will look dull and lifeless.
